Angeline Chepchirchir

A scholar, trainer, researcher, manager and community service resource person with demonstrable leadership in public health practice. Angeline’s aim is to provide strategic leadership in academia, research, training, management and community service. She is a Lecturer at the University of Nairobi, Department of Nursing Sciences for the last 13 years. She holds a PhD in Tropical and infectious diseases from the same institution. She doubles up as a classroom and clinical instructor as well as research mentor for both undergraduate and postgraduate students at the school. She am actively involved in independent clinical and community research and currently a co-investigator in a project that seeks to establish fungal irritants associated with respiratory allergic reactions among primary school children in Nairobi and Busia counties. Her PhD thesis described the inflammatory cytokines’ profiles in patients with HIV/AIDS and hypertension comorbidity and the findings demonstrated indeed increased association of increased inflammatory cytokines and hypertension in the study population. She has previously worked with a technical team from Department of Health Promotion in the Ministry of Health, Kenya in the design of tools to aid delivery of content to community health workers as part of the implementation of community health strategy. They later carried out surveys to evaluate the performance of health workers in designated community health units in Kajiado, Nakuru and Baringo counties in Kenya. Angeline is actively involved in clinical and community research. She offers technical support in research process implementation, design of community entry approaches and engagement, capacity building, data management, dissemination of research findings and policy discussions
