Omotade Ijarotimi

Dr. Omotade Ijarotim is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She qualified as a medical doctor from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, graduating among the top five, and completed her internship at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC). She also holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the same institution. She completed postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at OAUTHC, Ile-Ife, during which she won the Society for Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Nigeria (SOGON) prize for the overall best candidate in Part I scholarship examinations and was awarded the scholarship of the National Postgraduate Medical College in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr. Ijarotim joined the services of OAU, Ile-Ife as a Lecturer in May 2011 and was also appointed honorary consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at OAUTHC, Ile-Ife in the same year. She was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in October 2019. She has over 40 published academic articles to her credit in peer-reviewed international and local journals. She remains productive with ongoing research in preparation. She has participated in numerous local and international conferences where she presented papers based on her research. She is a peer reviewer for several academic journals and an examiner at the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. Dr. Ijarotim is a passionate reproductive health advocate with certifications in Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) as well as Family Planning from the World Health Organization/Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research. She is a Master Trainer for Rotary International Action Group for Reproductive, Maternal, and Child Health. She is actively involved in training undergraduates and postgraduate residents in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She regularly contributes to reproductive health issues in electronic and print media. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Reproductive Health under the scholarship award of the Consortium for Advanced Research and Training in Africa (CARTA).
