Angella Musewa

Angella holds a Bachelor degree in Biomedical laboratory technology, from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity. Additionally, she received funding from Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Germany, and the CGIAR Research Program on Agriculture for Nutrition and Health, led by the International Food Policy Research Institute to undertake her MSc in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Makerere University. She has also completed a One Health scholarship from Makerere University in collaboration with University of Minnesota with funding from USAID. She has worked with the International Livestock Research Institute (Uganda) on the Human and Animal projects from 2013- 2016. She later joined the One Health Central and Eastern Uganda as a One Health person. On completion, Angella was the lead mentor for outbreak responses and other epidemiological investigations under the One Health Student’s club of Makerere University. Among these activities was her great achievement towards the coordination of One Health summer school in collaboration with Mississippi State University- US in 2017. Angella is currently an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Biosecurity, Ecosystems and Veterinary Public Health, Makerere University. Angella has published two papers from her MSc work and has continued to work on other projects co-authoring and one publication as a main author. She has presented at four international conference; the Prince Mahidol Conference (PMAC) which is an annual conference held in Bangkok Thailand that brings scientists around the world to participate in the conference. Her oral poster presentation was selected as the best presentation during the 10th European Conference on Tropical Medicine and International Health under the sub theme; One Health. This conference was held in Antwerp Belgium in 2017. Her participation in the conferences have been fully sponsored by the organizing committees on a competitive basis. Angella is part of the association of laboratory technologists and clinical epidemiologist/biostatisticians in Uganda. She has received numerous trainings on the one health approach towards the management of zoonotic diseases and has received certifications on completion of her training on mapping One Health Systems and tools used in Uganda health ministries.
