Getrude Shepelo

Shepelo Getrude is a Veterinary Surgeon registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board and Kenya Veterinary Association. She completed her Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Nairobi in 2015, where she worked on Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and Eimeria infections in calves at smallholder dairy farms in Kenya. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine from the same university. She is currently a lecturer in the Department of Clinical Studies, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nairobi, where she undertakes research, performs clinical duties in the Large Animal Clinic, and teaches undergraduate students. She is a member of the One Health team in the department and the team leader of the Veterinary Emergency Response Unit (VERU) – University of Nairobi Chapter. Her area of interest is tick-borne zoonoses. Her PhD research focuses on the detection of zoonotic Anaplasma and Ehrlichia species infecting cattle in Kenya.
