Profile AI

Currently, my research focuses on public health issues, specifically fertility, maternal and child health, intimate partner violence, and adolescent sexual health in Nigeria and Africa. I have mostly examined the extent to which individual and household characteristics predict fertility behavior and other health outcomes. My research findings have contributed to the aforementioned public health issues by providing empirical evidence and policy implications. I was recently promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer at my home institution, Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, and have also commenced a postdoctoral scholarship with the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, Canada. To further strengthen my research capabilities, I am extending my research into the sexual and reproductive health of vulnerable populations, specifically street-involved young authors and adolescents living in institutions such as homes and orphanages. These issues will be examined from demographic and social epidemiological perspectives. I have indicated an interest in auditing courses on global health research, qualitative research methods, and in building capacity in the management and analysis of large datasets as part of my ongoing postdoctoral scholarship.

Program Impact AI

The program appears to have had a modest but positive effect on the author’s research productivity during enrollment, with publication activity continuing rather than dropping off. Given the long gap between graduation and the present, the strong post-graduation record suggests the program may also have helped build a sustained research trajectory, though the immediate comparison is most informative for the pre-enrollment versus during-program period.
