Olusegun Thomas

A registered Pharmacist who graduated from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Olusegun has since undergone some postgraduate training including an internship at the Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research Cambridge, Massachusetts USA. He am presently a faculty member and biomedical researcher at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria with a bias for solving public health-related needs. The main thrust of his doctoral studies was to contribute to the arrest of the increasing incidence of cancer by reducing the occupational risks among textile dye applicators. The research effort involves the genotoxicity profiling of dye materials as a tool for human cancer hazard identification and prevention. He am looking to engage the ministries of health and environment in improving the general working conditions in the textile industry and the protection of the ecosystem. Olusegun has utilized a number of grants to this end including the CARTA doctoral scholarship awarded in 2013 and the Federal government of Nigeria TETFund Academic Authors Development and Training grant in 2016.
