Profile AI

I hold a Master of Science in Public Health from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kenya, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. I am a lecturer at the University of Nairobi, College of Health Sciences, School of Nursing Sciences and Community Health Nursing Department, where I am also registered for my PhD. I am a CARTA Cohort 6 person. I have two published articles in peer-reviewed journals, one academic module in environmental education, and I have presented my master's research at conferences. I am in the process of publishing more from my current PhD research. I have over seven years of university teaching experience, especially in community health nursing, both theory and practice. I previously taught as a lecturer at Regina Pacis University College, a constituent college of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, where I served as the students' welfare officer (equivalent to Dean of Students) for over three years, as well as at Presbyterian University of East Africa and Daystar University, Kenya. Prior to joining the teaching profession, I worked as a nurse manager for about ten years in various hospitals in Kenya, where my desire to develop competent health professionals was further ignited, propelling me to a teaching career. I have a wide range of experience in management, teaching and clinical instruction, as well as supervising, coordinating and leading the implementation of quality health services in both government health facilities and faith-based organizations. I have a passion to see healthy communities. This has led me to participate in organizing various community health-promoting services and activities such as medical camps and health check-ups, benefiting the less privileged in the community. My ultimate goal is to fully utilize my potential, skills and experience to enhance the health of our communities and improve health care provision through training, mentoring and nurturing competent and reliable health care providers as a collaborative team player.
