Takondwa Bakuwa

Takondwa Bakuwa is a young female Malawian physiotherapist, currently working as a lecturer at the University of Malawi, College of Medicine. She holds a Master of Science degree in community physiotherapy, obtained from the University of Witwatersrand. Her research interest lies in the field of community based participatory health care, in which her current PhD concept also rests. Her other research interests include Implementation research in the fields of women’s health and child health. She acquired basic knowledge and skills in implementation research through a short competency based course at the University of Witwatersrand. Her most recent research work investigated the value of a short practical training course for therapists working with children with cerebral palsy in South Africa, which she intends to publish soon. Her vision is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of health care service delivery in Malawi and sub-Saharan Africa through conducting relevant research that informs policy to do with optimization of the available resources for rehabilitation and public health.
