Ronald Tonui

Ronald is a lecturer in the unit of Immunology at the Moi University School of Medicine in Eldoret, Kenya. He is also the chair of Moi University College of Health Sciences and Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital Laboratory Services Division in addition to being a co-director of the AMPATH Reference Laboratories. Prior to joining the university, he worked with the Ministry of Health as a medical officer at Iten District Hospital, and Kocholwa Sub-District Hospital where he also served as the Medical Superintendent. Ronald had his medical training (Bachelor of medicine and Bachelor of Surgery – MBChB) and a Master of Science degree in Immunology from Moi University, and a Master of Science in Global Health & Infectious Diseases from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He is involved in infectious disease research (HIV, Malaria and TB) with his main areas of interests being pathology and diagnostics. He has participated in both biomedical science and clinical trials projects including serving as an investigator with the Aids Clinical Trials Group (ACTG). He has a number of publications on these subjects in peer reviewed journals.
