Lydiah Wanjiru Njihia

Lydiah Wanjiru Njihia is a Tutorial Person at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nairobi. She is a virologist with a strong background in veterinary sciences, actively involved in teaching and research focusing on the effects of climate change on zoonotic viruses and public health. Her research explores transmission dynamics, virus evolution, and host-pathogen interactions, with emphasis on how environmental and climatic factors influence disease emergence. Lydiah also conducts antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research within the One Health framework, studying drivers of AMR and the role of One Health interventions in mitigating its impact on animal and human health. Beyond academia, she is a member of a women-led organization that advocates for women and women-led research, promoting gender inclusivity in science.
